ArjanWrites pal Darren Hayes delivers a totally fun and accomplished cover of Madonna's "Dress U Up" that he recorded for a very special reason.
"In 1985, the Her Madgesty released a song that made me want to dance, sing and get up and do my thing," Hayes writes on his MySpace blog. "In celebration of the Queen's show in London this week Justin Shave and I recorded a studio version based on an original tour demo floating around from the Reinvention Tour era that I believe was scrapped. My vocals pay homage to the way the Boy Toy adlibed them during the Virgin Tour."
Hayes called me a couple of weeks ago and said that fans will have to wait for original new material for "a few years." That's too bad. Fortunately, this revamp of a pop classic makes up for that disappointment a thousand times over. It's pure nostalgia.
This Delicate Thing We've Made is the BEST collection of songs since Affirmation, in the whole POP world. Listen All You People (should have been a hit single), Darren's been all but ignored since coming out, we really need to get behind (hmmm) our friends in the public eye and support them as much as we can. We need the world to know that sexuality is NOT the most important issue - love is !!
Good on you Mr Hayes, you make me very proud and your music brings much joy to my life.
