"Brand New B*tch" is gaining traction on radio across North America and to stir more attention and to show off her chops, she decided to cover Gym Class Heroes' hit tune "Stereo Hearts" that features the vocals of Maroon 5's Adam Levine. The original song was produced by hit maker Benny Blanco together with ROBOPOP
Anjulie fires off some punchy new rhymes and a heavy dose of girl power on this clever remake about her obsession with a star who "is all over your tv" and she pretends he is totally in love with Anjulie's "brown skin" and "quick wit." In the second verse, she turns to her passion for her emerging pop career. "It's game on!," she cheers, being a proud "Canadian."
She explains in an email why she decided to cover "Stereo Hearts." "When I first heard this song I loved it and wished I wrote it," she writes. "Instead of doing a cover I wanted to do my own version and flip the perspective of what it's like being a chick in love with music."
"At the beginning, it's me in the crowd, infatuated with the artist, having an imaginary relationship with him in the 2nd verse the perspective flips and I talk about what it's like being on the other end of the mic."
