About Eunice
eunice: It is difficult to tell. It came so naturally. Same time as when did the straight people realized that they are straight.
æ: Are you out to family and friends? If yes, could you tell us something about it? Is it an important factor in your life?
eunice: I came out to most of my friends and co-workers for a long time. My family knows about my sexual orientation too. I told my co-workers about my sexual orientation because most of them have misunderstanding on queers and I think that I have the responsibility to educate them. I did not come out to my mom by myself.
My mom is the one who told me that she does not think homosexuality is a mental sickness. She also told me that it is O.K. for me to seek a man or a woman for myself as partner. She only cares about whether this person is nice, hard working and financial secure or not.
æ: Do you believe in monogamous or open relationships? Are you in one?
eunice: I believe in both but I do not prefer an open relationship.
æ: What kind of underwear person are you?
eunice: Plain color, pure cotton, not sexy or seductive.
æ: What's your favourite CD?
eunice: "I have a date with spring" - the songs of a Cantonese drama in Hong Kong.
æ: What kind of pet do you have? Why?
eunice: Cats, turtle, fish and dog. I picked up all my cats on the streets. I picked up my dog at the gas station. The fish shop gave me the turtles for they are disabled. My father bought me fishes when I was 8 years old.
æ: Do you work with/support any gay or lesbian community groups? How?
æ: Have you ever participated in any pro-gay or lesbian events/parties/workshops? If so, which?
eunice: Yes, I attended the Queer Sisters party and became their voluntary worker. Now, I host the parties and workshops for them.
æ: What do you think we need most in Asia's gay and lesbian community?
eunice: We need more funding to provide more education for the public and for our brothers and sisters.
æ: In the context of being an Asian gay or lesbian, do you have any personal role models/inspirations?
eunice: Do culture exchanges with other overseas G&L organizations. To show them the difference between western and eastern queer cultures.
æ: What advice would you give to someone who is trying to come to terms with his or her sexuality?
eunice: It is not a much to come out to family, friends and public. We never see a straight person come out to the public. Be a nice person, be a responsible citizen, and be a good family member and work hard in our career. These are the only ways to make people respect you.
