Renown gay country-music and dance organisers Sundance Saloon will present Sydney Stompede! at the Midnight Shift Club, one of the city's most established gay clubs.
The event will be held in Sydney's newest "superclub", the Midnight Shift Club, in the centre of infamous Oxford Street, which boasts a superb timber dance floor and the very latest in sound technology.
The Sydney Stompede! brings the experience of San Francisco's Sundance organisers, the unsurpassed country-music expertise of Sydney's leading country music broadcaster, Barbara Morison, OutFM's Out Country presenter Sheldon King, and the music of Sundance Saloon DJ Ten-Gallon Hal to Sydney's enthusiastic but dormant gay and lesbian country dance community.
Sundance Saloon was set up in 1999 when a group San Francisco gay country dance enthusiasts, disenfranchised by the local gay club scene, banded together to create a dance club all their own.
Twenty 10 was established in Darlinghurst in 1981 in response to the large lesbian and gay homeless population. This is argued to be the first welfare response by the lesbian and gay community to support young lesbians and gays.
Since its inception Twenty 10 has developed a broader mandate which includes medium term supported accommodation, as well as a wide range of support services for young people and their families.
All are welcome for a night of music, dancing, entertainment and fun. Those who arrive early will be treated to free two-step lessons, and everyone, regardless of their proclaimed dancing ability, will be able to dance throughout the evening.
