æ: Hi Laura. Let's begin by Introducing Laura Fygi to Fridae's readers.
Laura: Hi, I'm Laura Fygi and I have been in show business for 25 years!

æ: You have received critical kudos and Bewitched fans worldwide with your smoky vocals and jazz-inspired songs. What do you attribute to your success in cornering the sultry jazz market?
Laura: I believe people are ready for some smooth music in their hectic lives.

æ: You have also been undisputedly hailed as "The Diva Of Jazz". Now this Lady Wants To Know: What are the most diva-like and most un-diva-like qualities about Laura Fygi?
Laura: On stage I am the diva. I love to dress up which contributes to my feeling like a star on stage. Off stage though, I walk around in comfortable clothes and my un-diva-like qualities appear when I work in my garden. Then I wear rubber boots and gloves and I don't look like a star at all.

æ: How does it feel to know that your music has the ability to seduce gays and lesbians alike to Turn Out The Lamplight and make sweet love?
Laura: Some of the songs I believe are very sensual so I am not surprised.

æ: The last time you visited Singapore was during the Laura Fygi "Change" Asia Tour 2002. Besides adding a Latin Touch, what has changed in terms of your musical influence(s) and direction(s)?
Laura: Nothing much has changed. I still love all the songs I sing and the Christmas album I released last December again contains my favorite seasonal songs - but of course with a Brazilian touch.

æ: Finally, from one diva to another, what is your secret to staying sexy, sultry and sensuous both onstage and offstage?
Laura: Balance in life is very important to me. Being yourself and having fun in what you do, whether it concerns my career or private life, that's my secret.
