Well-acted and solidly directed, this psychological study of two FBI spies is one of the most intelligent and engrossing films playing in the cinema right now.
Based on a true story, Chris Cooper plays an FBI agent who has been betraying his organization by feeding information to the Russians. The FBI suspects his activities but is unable to gather enough evidence to prosecute him. Hoping to catch him red-handed, the FBI assigns a young and ambitious agent-wannabe (Ryan Phillipe) to spy on his older colleague. A riveting story of deception and counter-deception unfolds as the men slowly start to discover each other's secrets...
Breach is directed by Billy Ray whose last film, Shattered Glass, was also about deception that of a young and ambitious journalist (Hayden Christensen) who wrote sensational, unfounded stories for his newspaper simply to rise to the top. But in many ways, Breach is a more mature and sophisticated effort compared to Shattered Glass.
For politically-inclined LGBTs.
