It stars Anton Yelchin as Charlie Bartlett, a winsome rich kid who keeps getting expelled from school. He desperately wants to be popular at his new school, so he hatches a plan to be the single most powerful dope dealer in school. Not just any dope, mind you, but happy pills that psychiatrists prescribe to depressed patients.
Soon, the kids who suffer from variations of teen angst are popping the pills that Charlie gets from his Mum's psychiatrist. And whaddaya know, the students look a lot happier than they ever have. Enter the jaded principal (a terrific Robert Downey Jr) to quell Charlie's operation...
Charlie Bartlett is harmless goofy fun for younger viewers. Older viewers might have had their version of this in 1986's Ferris Bueller's Day Off, so Charlie Bartlett should provide a small dose of nostalgia.
