After a four year absence, spacey British funk-pop outfit Jamiroquai returns in November with a brand-new album, titled "Rock Dust Light Star." Free MP3 download "White Knuckle Ride" (Penguin Prison Remix).
The group that is fronted by the enigmatic Jay Kay has been working for almost 2 years on this album, carefully crafting a record that would stay true to their funky roots while also sounding fresh and contemporary. The first single to be lifted from the album is "Blues Skies" that will hit radio in Europe over the next couple of weeks.
The warm up fans, DJs and radio programmers for this much-anticipated new Jamiroquai release, the group released "White Knuckle Ride" to give people a taste. They asked several up and comers to remix the track, including happening New York electro-pop artist Penguin Prison who turns the song into a super smooth, glistening disco number. Very, very good.
This Penguin Prison remix follows the equally stunning remix he did for Kylie Minogue. We are going to see a lot more of Penguin Prison in the upcoming weeks. He will open for Ellie Goulding's debut show in New York next week, and he will be touring with Two Door Cinema Club and open their shows in the Northeast.
I must admit I do have a Jamiroquai album in my collection not a bad effort, I found it in a pile of CD's some one tossed, I play it now N again funk I find is usually done better by African Americans and latins who have the heart and soul and that certain historical connection to a style and Rhythm that makes it work best, Maori singers in New Zealand and African decent people in Europe also have that, whites are usually good imitaors who often do a fair job but lack the real authenticity and 'zaniness' that African Americans in particular have
