While I'm in Canada this week, I'm planning to feature some exciting new pop talent that is from here. Let's start with the very talented Montreal electro-pop crooner Eric Solomon.
Born in Montreal and raised in the African Congo until he was forced to leave during an embassy relief effort during the civil war, Eric was taught classical piano as a child before quickly graduating to drums, guitar, bass and keys. It wasn’t long before American record labels were scouting him.
Ultimately choosing to sign with Epic/Sony for the release of his debut album, the arrangement didn't last long, as Eric found himself in the all-too-common shuffle of label buy-outs. Determined to succeed regardless of industry setbacks, Eric began teaching himself audio engineering as a way to return to his musical roots.
His remix of Passion Pit sparked a bunch of great new intiatives for the singer. He even starred in MTV's Youth Electric, a reality show that chronicled the lives of three Vancouver artists. Solomon is now gearing up to release his new album "Time Bomb" that features lead single "Addicted." It's a high-energy pop stomper with a pulsing dance beat and a glorious, sunburst chorus that will move your feet right to the dancefloor. (Support new pop and download "Addicted" on iTunes.)
