Sinead O'Connor has married her 27-year-old British journalist boyfriend Nick Sommerlad three weeks ago. According to media reports, the couple was married in Ireland in a secret ceremony attended by a handful of friends but official confirmation has not been given.

The couple was reportedly introduced in February and was engaged in June.

Before the 35-year-old Irish singer had declared herself a lesbian in Curve, an American lesbian magazine last year, she was previously married to writer John Reynolds whom she has a thirteen-year-old son with. She was also involved with an Irish Times columnist John Waters, who is the father to her five-year-old daughter Roisin.

O'Connor was scheduled to be one of the main acts of this summer's Wotapalava festival tour. The tour featuring other musicians the Pet Shop Boys, Soft Cell, the Magnetic Fields, Rufus Wainwright and DJs Junior Vasquez and Danny Tenaglia was to be the largest gay-themed tour in history.

After she dropped out due to "unforeseeable family commitments", organisers the Pet Shop Boys cancelled the tour because of the difficulty in finding a suitable replacement for her.
