Beyonce Knowles who was quoted in Britain's Sun tabloid on October 15, decrying the girl-on-girl smooch as something she would never do, given her religious beliefs, claimed that she was misquoted in a manner "unbelievable" to her.

"I couldn't do what Britney and Madonna did at the MTV Awards. I knew it was going to happen from rehearsals, but it was still a shock when they did it."
According to E! Online, the 22-year-old claimed ignorance to the origins of the remarks in a televised interview.
"I was absolutely misquoted, I never said anything close to the statement, [and] it really, really hurts me that people are saying that I said anything like that," she said.
Beyonce said in a statement on her web site: "I'd like to clarify any confusion over some quotes that were attributed to me totally out of context in a recent interview. I have never judged anyone based on his or her sexual orientation and have no intention of starting now. I have a lot of gay and lesbian fans and I love them no differently than my straight fans."
Matthew Knowles, Beyonce's manager and father, claimed the comments were cut and pasted from two separate interviews and spliced together to give the impression that she was against gays and lesbians. He revealed that his team are mulling over whether to sue the newspaper.
