Almost 70% of Singaporeans disapprove of same-sex relations, study finds

Religious groups among the most likely to have negative attitudes towards same-sex relationships.

The number of people who disapprove was highest among Singaporean Muslims, Christians and Hindus. The working paper, produced by the Singapore-based think-tank the Institute of Policy Studies, looked at the responses of 1,800 Singaporeans about their views on religion.

However, LGBT rights advocates in Singapore have called into question the survey’s methodology. The survey’s findings come amid a renewed push for greater rights by LGBT advocacy groups in Singapore.

The methodology may, indeed, be flawed, but one thing the survey certainly shows is the intolerance of religion. I have always liked S'pore, and one cannot dispute the success of the government's economic policies, but the government has also dabbled in social manipulation thru propaganda, the results of which may have been successful, but laughable. That being said, the government could use its propaganda department to bolster human rights, rather than steadfastly resisting them.
