Everyone's favourite dysfunctional family has finally made it to the big screen! After 18 seasons, 23 Emmy awards and a numerous record-breaking achievements, the TV show that has had us giggling and guffawing for two decades has gotten its own full-length feature.

And what an absolute treat it is. After the long wait, The Simpsons Movie certainly does not disappoint. There are plenty of incredibly dumb, insightful, sardonic, wry, morbid or flat-out funny jokes to tickle different parts of your funny bone and remind you once again why you were hooked on the TV show in the first place.

The story begins with Homer (voice of Dan Castellaneta) adopting a pet pig, But the pig poops so much, it unwittingly creates a major environmental disaster. Everyone in Homer's town of Springfield is now furious with Homer and his family, and even the US government has to swoop in to contain the problem. Unfortunately, the government idea of "containing the problem" is less than savory...

There are many high points in the movie including Bart skateboarding naked (we get to see his weenie for the first time) and the appointed US President Arnold Schwarznegger saying "I lead, not read". As always, the cartoon has a marvelous way of knocking and mocking everything from politicians to celebs to ordinary folks.

Whether you're a fan or not, get your ass into the cinema for this one. It's a hoot!
