I was a New Kids on the Block fan. Yeah, like that was a big surprise.
Sure, I get my dose of the "proudly manufactured in the USA" pop group from MTV and the radioand I do particularly like some of their songs. And of course, Justin Timberlake and JC Chasez accompany me at all times when I engage in my masturbatory fantasieshow could they not? But that doesn't mean that I camp out in front of the record store to get their latest CD on the first day of its release.
Celebrity is a little different from their previous releases. I could say that their sound has "matured", but how mature can a boy band catering to young teenagers get? Maybe it's all more of a maturity in image (well, what else do they have?)
Although I'm deeply disappointed at Justin for shaving off his blond curls and at JC for growing his hair to look like the fur of a sewer rat, they both still look presentable. I wonder if anyone ever pays attention to the other three members? I couldn't care less.
Call me a romantic, but *NSYNC is at their best when they're doing ballads in Celebrity. Gone is a perfect example of how "unlike-*NSYNC" they can get. Brian McKnight lends a hand in producing Selfish, while Stevie Wonder contributes his signature sound in his harmonica bit in Something Like You.
If you wanna take a peek at what this boy band rage is all about, get this CD. Otherwise, it's strictly for eluded fans not knowing that there's more to pop than this.
