Twenty-six year old Randy who has been making his annual pilgrimage to Sydney's Sleaze Ball since 1998 had already applied for a week's leave way back in June.
When asked what he likes so much about Sleaze, Randy told Fridae, "Sleaze Ball is usually a lot more risque than Mardi Gras. The parties are smaller, but the participants and shows are usually more daring! I don't want to go into details, but let's just say that you wouldn't be able to write home and tell Mom "all about it" (unless you're really that candid). One word to describe Sleaze: "Naughty"! Actually, the name says it all."
Sleaze, which is one of the largest and most well known parties in the world, traditionally launches the summer party season in the city that has been hosting the annual Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras (SGLMG) since 1978.
The organisers of the annual fundraising event, the SGLMG promises a sensory overload of wild music, wicked sounds and wayward live performances.
The event to be held on 29 September aims to unite local and international lesbian and gay community members and friends to celebrate queer identity, community togetherness, diverse music and dance culture.
Held over three major sites at Fox Studios in Sydney, the organisers promise three spectacular feature shows at the main stage in the RHI, wide roving entertainment throughout the night as well as some of Australia's (and the world's) best DJs and advanced sound and lighting techniques.
To encourage partygoers to dress up, everyone will have the opportunity to have their photograph taken in front of the Beast backdrop and immortalised on the SGLMG website. Winners of the five awards: Best Group Costume, Best Male Costume, Best Female Costume, Best Beast, Judges Choice Award will win A$500.
When probed about how he intends to stand out, Randy exclaimed, "I have no idea what to wear yet, but less is always more. It's amazing how creative people can be with so little fabric!"
