The magazine’s editor explained “The main reason for this publication is to promote love,” he continued, “promoting love and promoting the right to love. The audience for love is huge and that’s who this is for.”
The invitation-only launch event was attended by British High Commissioner Robert Gibson and Barrister Sara Hossain. Speaking at the event, a representative of a support group for gays and lesbians heralded the major advances globally in the field of LGBT advocacy.
Speaking specifically about Bangladesh he noted “the problem in our country is many are taking the issue politically. But this is about personal freedom. We need to take careful steps, and we don’t want our development to be hindered by a wrong step,”

Bravo to those volunteers in Bangladesh for the launching of Roopbaan. It acts as a catalyst and sets an imminent example for other surrounding similar conditions' nations to accept and embrace a new era of sexuality, such as India and Pakistan, and also in South East Asia countries like IndoChina, Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam.
This shows that LGBT is a global phenomenon as its transcends across borders, cultures, religions and economics development.
That's 'rainbow power!'
