Cecil Chao has revamped attempts to find his lesbian daughter, Gigi Chao, a husband, he revealed in an interview with a Malaysian newspaper this week. Although his original offer two years ago received over 20,000 suitors, Chao lamented the fact that no one had yet convinced his daughter to marry them.
Chao said of Gigi “I only hope for her to have a good marriage and children as well as inherit my business.” He also stated that he believed his daughter could still change her mind about her sexuality as she was only 33.
Gigi responded to her father’s recent proposition in an interview with the South China Morning Post. Here, she claimed “I don't think my dad's offering of any amount of money would be able to attract a man I would find attractive”
Gigi is already married to her partner, Sean Eav, and the couple has been together for nine years. Gigi is an executive director of her father’s property development empire but is also involved in charity work, founding her own organization, the Faith in Love Foundation. She is an outspoken advocate of LGBT rights and a founding member of the Big Love Alliance.
Pink Alliance Chairman Reggie Ho Lai-kit pointed out that Chao’s actions are a result of one of the common phases of a parents’ reaction to their child’s sexuality. "Mr Chao is still going through the denial process, thinking money can solve any problem including those involving his daughter," Ho said.
Gigi laughed off the original offer in 2012, saying that it showed how much her father loved her. The latest revelation however, is said to have upset her partner Sean Eay. Gigi stated that she was still close with her father but that they had very different views about love and family life.
In regards to a potential husband, she said “I would be happy to befriend any man willing to donate huge amounts of money to my charity, Faith in Love, provided they don't mind that I already have a wife.”

married for nine years knows that his daughter was born
a lesbian. I would like to hear what he thinks about her
spouse. One would assume that maybe he approves of his
daughter's choice. However, what Mr. Chao wants is to be
a grandfather probably to a son. Does anyone know if there
is a Mrs. Chao?? I understand Mr. Chao because I and my
brother who are both in our sixty's had to listen to our
mother into our early fifty's ask those same questions. When
are you going to marry and have kids. Hey, I would meet
Gigi if she were serious about a child but I would not give
up my parental rights to be a part of the kids' upbringing.
What is interesting about this story is the amount of money
he is willing to offer but what are the other strings attached
to the agreement.
His money might be better used by funding programs that prevent suicide; teach healthy living; teach practicing safer sex; teach seeking of anti-stress outlet sources.
It may be possible, too, that he just wants to make sure his daughter will not get all the money singly. But, even if there ARE offspring forthcoming, it'll be 16-22 years before such kids can responsibly run his empire in his image or legacy. Well, that is if the kids are not raised as little emporers then made responsible by age 12 to become 22 years old by physical age 16-18.
I'll marry her, if SHE'LL flow me a cool USD $300,000 (post-tax; $60k to clear all my mortal debts; and $140k) to set up a multi-lingual education facility, and then I'll step of her way so she can go on living the life and roles she was obviously intended to.
Best wishes to her. Happy Year of the Horse, Madam!
Like what she mentioned that she's already have a wife, and why on earth she needs a husband as she's wanted and having a wife now..!
