A Hong Kong newspaper has unearthed a discriminatory code of ethics implemented by an Internationl School in Hong Kong.
Hong Kong newspaper Ming Pao Daily has revealed discriminatory laid down by the International Christian School in a letter sent to all staff by Headmaster, John Nelson. The letter encourages staff to adhere to ethical Christian values both on and off campus.
It is understood that staff at the Christian School, which runs from kindergarten to High School and with over 1000 pupils, were made to sign the declaration entitled ‘Standards of Biblical Ethics and Integrity’ last year.
In a list of ‘activities and choices that may be subject to discipline, up to and including termination of service, and/or legal action,’ there is one bullet point for ‘unethical’ sexualities.
It reads, 'Engaging in any form of homosexuality, fornication, transvestitism, bestiality, alternative gender identity, pornographic addiction, or any other sexual behavior that violates biblical purity or the marriage covenant between man and woman’
The school has received widespread condemnation from the LGBT community. Gay lawmaker Ray Chan Chi-chuen said that it was an insult to gays that homosexuality is listed together with bestiality.
The case also highlights Hong Kong’s lack of legislation to deal with such discrimination. Hong Kong’s Equal Opportunities Commission is pushing for discrimination to be outlawed by the Government has been slow to react.
John Nelson or the International Christian School are yet to comment.

I also agree that grouping homosexuality and bestiality together is just totally insulting and ignorant as well.
We can only hope that intelligent, educated, caring people see this for what it is.
One point these religious and so-called 'god-saviour acting' people are not aware or simply ignoring it is by labeling homosexuality as 'unethical' creates a sense of hatred which leads to stigmatization, prejudice and discrimination, and hence instilling the unhealthy attitude of homophobia among the mainstream heterosexual community.
Is this what any religion and god teaches it's followers to hate, discriminate, and offering bad or unjust treatment to a human being created by god just because he or she is sexually attracted to the same sex without endanger a single human life?
I have to think that this school is run by a bunch of closeted repressed gay men or women who are angry and terrified of those who have the moral courage to say and do what they they think is correct.
I said moral courage, cause there are few things that are truly moral in religion.
It doesn't even have any fundamental logic to it. Right or wrong aside, there is an evident failure to even use common sense.
And "just on the principal of it" would just be a lame excuse.
With huge unemployment especially among the young, people don't have the freedom to turn down a job especially when this job maybe be financing their younger family member's education.
Additionally...
'Standards of Biblical Ethics and Integrity’ ...are they serious?? I have to wonder about anyone who looks to the bible for ethics or uses it as a guide to morality...it's a book filled with the most atrocious immorality, a book that sanctions slavery, genecide, human sacrafice, wife beating etc etc...all under the watchful eyes of a maniacal, jealous, murder-ordering god. They go on to mention "biblical purity"...would that be the part of the bible where Lot offers his daughters to the soldiers or where his daughters rape him..maybe it's the "pure" part where Cane marries his sister?? Hmmm...not sure...
In any event..another example of just how crazy things get done in teh name of god...Aiya!
Similarly, gays in the USA want same-sex marriage. I think that's fantastic. But if any gays are dumb enough to start frivolous lawsuits against churches that refuse to marry them, well the gays should get their hands slapped. I think everyone should have equal treatment and equal protection in public policy…..that doesn't have anything to do with private churches or private schools.
You and I choose not to follow the antiquated preachings of the Old Testament, and we are allowed to do so and want others to respect our right to make that choice. Now, we have to respect the right of others who choose to follow these ideas, in their private business dealings. Unemployment is not the issue, in any way. I would imagine a position at this school would represent less than one thousandth of one percent of jobs that are available in HK. I can tell you, as an American, that even if I were unemployed, I would not choose to be on the marketing team for the Ku Klux Klan…..or should I, just because unemployment is on the rise?
You can get a job, and force others to change their policy in the process even if it's not the right thing to do…sure, that's entirely possible. But is that paycheck worth taking away the rights of others to believe what they choose to believe, which is what equality folks fight so hard against? It works both ways.
Let the private school conduct business as they see fit, and I will happily gay with you all over the rest of HK. It's my favorite place on earth (after New York, my humble home). :)
