P.S.

Director: Dylan Kidd

Starring: Laura Linney, Topher Grace, Marcia Gay Harden, Gabriel Byrne, Paul Rudd

Release: 2006-09-19

As an actress, Laura Linney never fails to imbue her roles with grace, warmth and intelligence. Whether she is playing the role of an underfulfilled woman in You Can Count on Me and Kinsey, or toughing it out in horror flicks like The Mothman Prophecies and The Exorcism of Emily Rose, you believe every minute of her strong screen presence.

P.S. is the latest film to showcase her superior acting skills. She plays a lonely college admissions officer who falls for a new student (Topher Grace) because he reminds her of someone she used to know. Their romance comically develops, as she learns to come to terms with her own life of missed opportunities and wasted chances.

Directed by Dylan Kidd, a light-hearted dramedy tackles complex themes such as regret, loss, middle age and failed relationships. Needless to say, there are very few films these days that deal with such topics, so when one comes along, we can't help but like it. The film is also buoyed by a strong supporting cast comprising Oscar-winner Marcia Gay Harden, the ever-reliable Gabriel Byrne and the always-watchable Paul Rudd.

If you are below 25, you should stay away from this film. But if you are above 35, chances are this film has a lot to say to you.
