The only lightweight entry into this week's slate of new releases is Seducing Mr Perfect, a formulaic romantic comedy about a successful career woman (Uhm Jung-Hwa) who is hopeless at romance. Smothering her men with too much attention and too many gifts, all her men eventually leave her for someone less clingy.
Enter her new Korean-American boss "Mr Perfect" (Daniel Henney), who knows all the tricks and turns of the dating game. He tells her that she should always be the last to call and the first to hang up, that she should never allow a man to have his way with her sexually, and a host of other tips. But before he knows it, she is using those very tricks on him...
This debut feature of director Kim Sang-woo treads on an all-too-familiar ground. The director himself admitted to using many romantic comedy cliches for the story, defending them as "necessary" for the genre. So if you are looking predictable, brain-free entertainment, then this is the movie for you.
