Ananda Everingham is the sweet-faced Lao-Australian actor who found overnight success in the Thai horror blockbuster Shutter. His latest film, Me... and Myself, is a romantic drama with a surprisingly nice (read: gay) twist.

Ananda plays a man who is robbed and beaten one night. He staggers onto the road and gets hit by a car, driven by career gal Chayanan Manomaisnatiphap. At the hospital, he discovers that he has lost his memory. She takes him home out of pity, but slowly finds herself falling for his sweet and gentle (read: gay) nature. Romance gradually blooms between the two.

But some things about Ananda are rather odd (read: gay). Like his knowledge of lipstick colour, culinary art and interior decor. So when the truth catches up with him, both are shocked to discover his sordid sexual past...

Me... and Myself is a heartfelt romantic drama that might make some of cry. But amnesia has been used as a plot device in so many films that it has lost much of its dramatic impact. And the acting is largely unremarkable.

Still, the pink streak in the plot is a welcome mat for the LGBT community. Even if conservative segments in our society continue to deny us our rights, it is getting harder and harder to deny our presence in entertainment.
