If you have trouble getting into the holiday spirit this year, Sarah Nixey will make it a little easier.
The always chic and stylish British songstress recorded a haunting new version of the holiday classic "Silent Night" together with James Banbury and Paul Morley of ambient pop duo Infantjoy. It is as if they recorded it on a submarine somewhere between dream and reality. It is slightly eerie, but perfect for the dark days of the season.
I first wrote about Nixey back in July of 2006 when I posted a guilt-free download of her fantastic pop tune "Strangelove" from her LP "Sing, Memory" that was released earlier this year on boutique label ServiceAV. Some of you might remember Nixey from the work she did with John Moore
and Luke Haines in Black Box Recorder who are currently taking a break from recording. If you are a fan of sophisticated and atmospheric British electro-pop, you must check out more of Nixey on iTunes.
