Release: 2008-02-12

As you can tell from the serious title, it's not a date movie for V-Day. But as soon as you've put aside the runny chocolates, dying roses and too-cute teddy bear, you simply have to go catch this movie.

Simply put, No Country for Old Men is the best movie of the month and even possibly, of the year. Leading the current Oscar race with eight nominations including Best Picture and Best Director, it tells a tale of three men linked together by a botched drug deal.

Now some of you may be put off by the words "drug deal" because you've probably had to sit through so many mediocre Hollywood drug movies over the years. But this one is different. This is not your standard-issue crime movie.

On the contrary, it is an extraordinarily layered and well-crafted drama that pivots its story on fully-developed characters, authentic dialogue and stunning cinematography. Just sit back and be amazed by what is clearly the best film ever made by directors Joel and Ethan Coen (Fargo, The Man Who Wasn't There).

Josh Brolin plays an ordinary man who had stumbled on drug deal gone horribly wrong and made off with the money. Javier Bardem plays a psychotic hitman out to get the money back. Tommy Lee Jones plays a veteran sheriff who is after them both. These three men are inseparably bound to a destiny that gets darker, denser and more disquieting with every heartbeat.

We can't tell you too much of the story because we'll ruin the surprise. All we've left to say is, go see this movie as soon as you can. Although it is not a horror movie, it is more chilly, morbid and frightening than any movie we've seen in a while.
