10,000 B.C.

Director: Roland Emmerich

Starring: Steven Strait, Camilla Belle, Marco Khanlian

Release: 2008-03-04

The breathtaking trailers of this prehistoric tale made moviegoers sit up and salivate. But the actual movie is such a bore. Despite boasting superb computer-generated images of mammoths, saber-toothed tigers and lost civilizations, 10,000 B.C. tells a tale that is almost as old as its setting.

Newcomer Steven Strait plays a mammoth hunter who has the hots for bodylicious Camille Belle. When Camille is kidnapped by a group of warlords, Steven and a small band of warriors doggedly pursue the kidnappers. They end up in a lost civilization ruled by a tyrant. Yaaaaaawwwn.
Director Roland Emmerich (of Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow fame) is extremely competent at staging the action sequences. But the script which he co-wrote could have used a little more imagination. As for the acting, let's not even go there...
