The boundaries of gender continue to bend as Hollywood manufactures it first "chick flick for guys" called Made of Honor. Now we're not sure if straight guys would bite, but we really think that gay guys would find it at least somewhat amusing
The deliciously handsome and swoon-worthy Patrick Dempsey (or McDreamy in Grey's Anatomy) is just deliciously handsome and swoon-worthy in the central role of a commitphobe who sleeps with different women every week. His best friend happens to be a woman (the beautiful Michelle Monaghan) who frequently listens to his conquests, but secretly wishes that it was her whom he had eyes for.
Michelle goes off on a trip to Scotland and returns with a beefcake boyfriend (Kevin McKidd) she plans to marry. She makes Patrick her maid of honour but Patrick soon realises that he really loves her and can't bear to see her with someone else. So he makes plans to ruin the wedding...
The movie isn't nearly as funny as its girl equivalent, My Best Friend's Wedding, which has Julia Roberts trying to wreck the wedding of her best friend (Dermot Mulroney). But Patrick Dempsey is truly worth his weight in gold. He can take the most ordinary lines and deliver it with a wit and charm that neither Tom Cruise nor Brad Pitt could rival. Michelle Monaghan is also very, very sweet playing Patrick's opposite. Lesbians viewers will no doubt be impressed.
With the considerable charms of its leads, you wish the script was better.
