Emerging pop singer Rebekah LeBeau experienced first-hand what it is like to appear on The Hills when two of her tracks were featured on the series' last season. "(. . .) It was a surreal experience, LeBeau tells ArjanWrites.com. "I threw a party and had all of my friends came over to celebrate and watch it live. This was my first TV license, so I couldn't have been more excited."
The Hills might not get lots of industry kudos for its storyline or acting performances, but even the worst critics will agree that the series' producers have taken plenty of risk when it comes to the show's music. "I think the Hills is one of the best shows to watch if you want to hear new and exciting music," LeBeau comments. "They have really done a fantastic job of integrating so many different songs and styles on the show."
So what does it really mean when your music is featured on such a popular show? A whole lot according to the songstress. "It was the catalyst I needed to get my music out to a broader audience," she says. "After being featured on The Hills, my Myspace blew up, and I was even included on MTV.com's 20 Most Popular Artists list. I got tons of messages from fans wanting to know who I was and when they could buy my music."
Look out for more of Rebekah's music on The Hills on Season 4. In the meantime, enjoy her music totally guilt-free. Download a free track on ArjanWrites.com and the rest of the EP on iTunes. She is a bit like a female version of a young John Mayer (around the time of "Room Of Squares"). Her music is honest, vulnerable and totally genuine. It's the stuff real artists are made of, and true music lovers will pay attention.
