Pushing Daisies is one of those quirky dark comedies (like Reaper or Wonderfalls) that you either love or hate. We at Fridae happen to love it. After all, how can you resist its "storybook" look, surreal plots and delicious sardonic humour? How can one resist Lee Pace's deadpan delivery of some truly witty lines, and Kristin Chenoweth occasionally bursting into song?
If you haven't seen the first season, which won six Emmys, here's a quick recap: Lee Pace plays a pie-maker with a special gift. He can bring a dead person back to life simply by touching him or her. But a second touch will return that person to the realm of the dead. So when the girl of his dreams (the lovely Anna Friel) passes away, he kisses her back to life. But he can never, ever touch her again.
In the next season, Kristin Chenoweth the woman who has loved Lee unrequitedly for so long discovers the true identity of the woman (Swoosie Kurtz) who has been threatening Lee's pie business. Shocked by the truth, Kristin runs away to a nunnery to chasten herself.
