Race To Witch Mountain is a Disney family film so don't expect anything sophisticated. The film is designed to be simple, fun and action-packed, with lots of cheesy jokes and gags. Imagine a sci-fi action flick done with the IQ-level and puppy-eagerness of High School Musical, and you'll get a pretty good idea of how it is.
Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock plays a Las Vegas cab driver who picks up two kid passengers (AnnaSophia Robb and Alexander Ludwig) who instruct him to drive to the Nevada desert. They are searching for their vehicle - um, a spaceship, to be exact. The kids are, well, aliens from another planet. And they are being pursued by U.S. government authorities as well as a bounty hunter from their planet.
Yeah, the Rock is one cabbie who deserves a fat tip
Directed by Andy Fickman, this remake of the 1975 Disney film Escape to Witch Mountain is surprisingly action-packed for a family picture. Maybe it's just responding to the pervasive gaming culture among the kids. Or maybe that's just how the Rock likes it. Either way, it's not really designed for adult audiences with no children tagging along (read: PLUs).
