When Manchester's production collective and club DJs Club Clique first heard Lana Del Rey's wondrous "Video Games" it was love at first sight. They were immediately grabbed by the track's pop brilliance and decided to give the song a spin of their own. "We knew instantly that it needed to be stripped down and rebuilt for the Club Clique dancefloor, with fingerclicks, disco strings and glittering pop magic," they write me enthusiastically.
The original "Video Games" is a finely-tuned pop marvel courtesy of producers ROBOPOP that spotlights Del Rey's impeccable and one-of-a-kind vocal delivery that is both sultry and sweet. Plus, her arresting presence and glammy '50s pinup aesthetic rounds up her irresistible pop offering.
Quite franky, the original "Video Games" does't skip a beat and leaves nothing to be improved upon. But Club Clique does a nice job taking the track and giving it a few new bells & whistles without ever straying too far from the original. Club Clique writes me, "Lana is exactly like the kind of girl who comes to our clubnight Clique so it was our duty to remake this incredible song for girls like her to dance to at our club." Listen and download it after the break.
