A few weeks ago, talented singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Colin Munroe unveiled "The Fight Of My Life," a brand-new new track from his forthcoming new album that will be released on EMI/Capitol later this year. After parting ways with Motown/Rowdy Records a couple of years ago, the Canadian singer moved to Los Angeles to rejuvenate his creative mojo and start a new chapter in his career following the viral success of his covers of song by Kanye West, U2, La Roux and Sky Ferreira.
Equally captivating are the track's lyrics. The meaning of "The Fight Of My Life" can be interpreted in many different ways, including his own challenge to persevere against the odds when he sings, "Never let go, never back down ( . . . ) I was born ready to fight. Forever and tonight. I will never fade, I never will run away." Powerful lyricism that will inspire people.
That big idea behind the song clearly comes across in his new lyric video, showing Munroe's fighting spirit, hands untied and breaking loose from the power that kept him from doing what he believed in. The gritty video also demonstrates that Munroe is not only a big musical talent but also has a strong visual point of view. He conceived the idea for stop-motion lyric video and shot every single frame by himself (with lots of help of handwash to clean his hands for the next lyric to show). More Colin Munroe goodness coming soon.
