Listen to Adam Lambert "Never Close Our Eyes" [Single Review]

"Never Close Our Eyes" ultimately is a song about losing yourself in the moment without second-guessing, fear or regret.

Adam Lambert roars his way to the top on the brand-new "Never Close Our Eyes," his mighty new single that was written and produced by none other than Bruno Mars in partnership with master hitmaker Dr Luke. The song will be released on iTunes on April 17 as an instant download for anyone who pre-orders the deluxe version of Lambert's highly-anticipated new album, "Trespassing."

"Never Close Our Eyes" masterfully combines Lambert's powerhouse vocals with Mars' knack for writing catchy pop melodies and Dr Luke's crisp production effort. Mixed to perfection and produced to a tee, the track is a flaming pop romp that will surely rule top forty radio all summer long. What's particularly compelling about this new Lambert smasher is that Dr Luke's energetic production stylings don't compete with the strength of Lambert's performance.

In fact, Lambert's rock vocals add a gritty dimension to Luke's glossy soundboard work that fit the song's narrative perfectly. "Never Close Our Eyes" ultimately is a song about losing yourself in the moment without second-guessing, fear or regret. "Forget about the sunrise, fight the sleep in your eyes. I don't want to miss a second with you (. . .) If I had my way we'd never close out eyes," Lambert sings, aptly pointing out that life's beauty is everywhere and should not be missed.

Lambert's "Trespassing," due out on RCA Records/19 Recordings on May 15, will be available in a 12 track standard edition as well as a deluxe edition with 3 additional bonus tracks. In addition to co-writing many of the tracks, Lambert collaborated with an all star list of award winning artists, producers and songwriters including Pharrell Williams, Claude Kelly, Benny Blanco, Bonnie McKee, Nile Rogers and his Los Angeles pal Sam Sparro.
