This ambiguous policy is observed ‘to provide great flexibility for the state’s regulating apparatus to deal with issues relating to the LGBT Community, while at the same time, also leaving some flexibility for the formation an LGBT Community and allowing same-sex couples to make certain protective arrangements such as to have a guardianship arrangement, consistent with the state’s aim of neutralising LGBT-related topics. This strategy also allows the state flexibility to exclude any open discussions about the topic in a public arena – while protecting the state from accusations of using oppressive mechanisms to suppress or punish the marginalised voices in the society.

However, silly as this may seem, it is one step closer to realizing the legitimacy of the LGBT community in China. The more recognizing, exposure, contact between the LGBT and the mainstream population in China is only going to help in educating people that LGBT people are human that want the same as everyone....a good life and someone to love.
