The Bourne Ultimatum

Director: Directors: Paul Greengrass

Starring: Matt Damon, Julia Stiles, David Strathairn

Release: 2007-08-14

Matt Damon has come a long way since Good Will Hunting, but was never a proven action star till The Bourne Identity came along. It has been a rollicking two movies, and I am glad to say that The Bourne Ultimatum has not deviated from what made its predecessors great. Filled with suspense and great action sequences, the film is intelligent, tautly paced and an immense pleasure to watch. The camerawork does get a little too jerky and dizzying at times, and for anyone who is not accustomed to Greengrass' filming style may be in for a stomach-lurching experience.

Jason Bourne (Damon) is still on a search to discover his true identity, and once again proves to be a danger to the CIA, his ex-employers. The CIA's black-ops division, led by Noah Vosen (David Strathairn), is tasked to take Bourne down, though Bourne has CIA agents rooting for and aiding him this time round.

Matt Damon plays Jason Bourne perfectly a man of few words and even fewer expressions, but there's always a sense of danger brewing right beneath his impassive surface. In fact, there seems to be a parallel between the new Bond and Bourne, and it helps that Damon, just like Daniel Craig, looks incredibly buff and hot in the movie.

With a large number of filming locations, a couple of impressive and memorable action setpieces and a brilliant central performance, there is no doubt that once the dust settles over this year's action releases, The Bourne Ultimatum will more likely than not reign supreme over the rest.
