Despite our unabashedly love for Mike Myers (Austin "Oh, behaaave..." Powers), The Love Guru has turned out to be one of the biggest disappointments of the summer season . So much was expected of the gifted Mike, who is playing his first major role in 10 years outside of the Shrek and Austin Powers franchise.
And so little was delivered.
Mike plays a self-help guru from India (think Deepak Chopra) whose books include If You're Happy and You Know It Think Again, and Does It Hurt When You Do That? Don't Do That. Not funny, right? Well, the not funny continues as Mike gets invited to Canada by the owner (Jessica Alba) of an ice-hockey team that has been in low spirits and losing every game in the rink.
Within this unoriginal premise, fart jokes, diarrhea jokes and penis jokes abound, making The Love Guru one of the most annoying and low-brow comedies of recent years on par with Meet the Spartans and Date Movie.
