Today marks the release of some fantastic (and highly anticipated) new pop records, including new music by Mika, Sky Ferreira, ZZ Ward, K'Naan, Icona Pop and a brand-new single from Kelly Clarkson. While you're scouring iTunes this evening to grab all the new music, I suggest to check out Cherry Cherry Boom Boom's new single "One And Only" as well. You may remember that I premiered the song a few weeks ago when the singer/songwriter/label executive first unveiled the record.
He explained previously he's releasing his own music (independently from Cherrytree Records and Interscope) to satisfy some of his creative urges. "I hadn't written a song for my voice in a while," Cherry Cherry Boom Boom told me earlier. "I'd mostly been writing for others (. . .) But, I love singing and I just felt like singing a couple of my favorite songs. So, I did. And, that led to deciding to write an original one."
The digital release of "One & Only" on iTunes comes along with a blazing remix from my fellow Hollander DJ R3hab. Adding some spice and sizzle, R3hab flips Cherry Cherry Boom Boom's enchanting tune up on its head and gives it a potent dancefloor punch. For example, the Dutchman includes a ferociously delicious breakdown following the chorus that adds a proper dose of disco drama to the song. Loving every second of this.
